Kennewick

Kennewick, Washington

One third of the Tri-Cities, along with Richland and Pasco, lies on the south bank of the Columbia River between the confluence of the Yakima River with the Columbia just upstream and the confluence of the Snake River just downriver and on the opposite side.   This small city tucked between the river on the north and the Horse Heaven Hills on the south is home to just less than 80,000 people as of 2016 so has the size to have the amenities of a fair sized city while still hanging on to a small town atmosphere.  The largest single factor that redeems it, in my opinion is that when you leave town, you leave TOWN… you are in the farmlands… the Palouse to the northeast and the Horse Heavens to the south.  It is very easy then to get away from people!

Over the years, the Tri-Cities has been host to many conferences of an international level on the subject of Sasquatch or Bigfoot.  In 2010, we hosted the inaugural International Conference on Primal People in Richland.  Since then there have been others.

Beginning last year, in September, we hosted the International Bigfoot Conference for the first time.  Their initial appearance in Kennewick was well received and greatly enjoyed by those attending.  That Conference will return on September 1 this year and run through Saturday the 2nd and Sunday the 3rd.

This year’s speakers include the best from across the world as we welcome David Floyd, PhD, University of Stirling, Scotland and Thomas Sewid, First Nations, British Columbia, Canada.  We Feature only the best in the field of the study of the Sasquatch People.  Ron Morehead will be introducing his newest book on the subject and Thom Cantrall will be demonstrating the latest scientific proof of the Patterson Gimlin Film, shot in 1967 and rapidly approaching its Fiftieth Anniversary.

Other speakers will include the ever-popular Dr. Jeff Meldrum, Associate Professor of Anatomy and Anthropology at Idaho State University in Pocotello, Idaho.  Dr. Meldrum is a ground breaker in the field of foot morphology as applied to the Sasquatch People.  Dr. Jeff will be joined on the dais by Science Teacher turned TV Bigfoot hunter, Cliff Barackman.  Cliff has been in southeast Asia in pursuit of the Orang Pendak.

This is just an introduction as a full list of speakers with their bios will show below.  I wanted to make sure here of one thing… The Tri-Cities region, though not huge at a total 2016 population of 217,000 people. has the amenities of and travel connections of a much larger community.

To understand this, one must understand the history of the Tri-Cities.  Before 1942, it would have been difficult to find a more pastoral region with sage brush predominating the terrain, but WW II changed that.  The Hanford area, north of

Tri-Cities Airport in Pasco … use code PSC

Richland, was chosen as the site for work on the super secret “Manhattan Project” which led to the production of the bombs used to end the war.  It was chosen because, unless the Axis powers had submarines capable of ascending the Columbia River and climbing falls at Celilo, it was safe from attack from the outside.  It was a relative uninhabited area on basement rock, well inland from the coast… in other words, safe from snoops as well…  Having such an important Defense Project meant that access and egress for the Generals, Scientists, Politicians and workers had to be above average.  Even after the war, the work in the Nuclear industry kept Hanford at the top of the list for those same transportation problems, hence, a very good system evolved with an airport and transport system second to none for its size.

Farmer’s Market Produce

From PSC, there are direct flights to such destinations as Denver, Minneapolis, Salt Lake City and San Francisco to make connections to your city a simple thing.  The entire airport facility has just undergone a total renovation to make ingress and egress so much faster and easier, but a much more comfortable wait for the traveler!

Accommodations range in quality (and price) from below Motel 6 to a Hilton and Red Lion… Marriott… and many of the others are available as well.  Food is similarly available… from some fine local restaurants through the gambit of franchises to the high end… All are here as well…

BUT…
In addition to all above, there are many wonderful things in the area to do in addition to the conference.  Since this conference runs through Sunday morning, and Monday is a National Holiday, it would be a small thing to spend that in the Blue Mountains looking for the elusive Big Guys or on one of the many golfcourses that range from levels appropriate for the beginners to championship level players.

From Farmer’s Markets to the region’s world class wineries… from Tri-City Americans Hockey Club to the Duster’s Baseball team… once the home of Seahawks QB, Russell Wilson.  From skiing or boating on the Columbia to a drive in country, this is a wonderful area to visit.

It is extremely easy to fly into or out of as well as being served by Greyhound and other bus lines and Amtrac, both at the modern facility on North 1st St. in Pasco.

The Conference – September 1st -3rd, 2017

The Speaker’s list

Ron Morehead

Taking the stage once again, our speaker Ron Morehead returns to Kennewick with the launch of his new book and a fresh presentations filled with his distinctive Sierra Sounds. If you missed last year, you certainly don’t want to miss this amazing presentation and audio that is like nothing else you’ve ever experienced. Best known for the Sierra Sounds, Ron Morehead is an adventurist, researcher, author, and producer.  He’s been known for decades for his world-wide research into the Bigfoot/Sasquatch phenomenon.  The Sierra Sounds are the only Bigfoot recordings that have been scientifically studied, time-tested, and accredited as being genuine.  Ron has documented his personal interactions with these giant beings and produced his story on CD and in his book, “Voices in the Wilderness.”

Very few researchers of his caliber are brave enough to publicly consider the hundreds of reports that include that “spooky action at a distance,” (Einstein).  In his new book, “The Quantum Bigfoot,” Ron goes above and beyond, combining decades of experience and tireless hours of research into the realm of quantum physics as it could pertain to Bigfoot/Sasquatch. www.ronmorehead.com

Cliff Barackman

Back on the stage for our second year we welcome Cliff Barackman, a professional educator, musician, and bigfoot researcher.  For the last seven years, he has been a co-host of Animal Planet’s hit show, Finding Bigfoot, enabling him to look for bigfoots and other unknown hominoids in 45 states and on five continents.  Cliff’s interest in the subject doesn’t end when the cameras are turned off, though.  He regularly spends time in study areas throughout Washington and Oregon doing field work to further his understanding of the local bigfoots and their habitat.

His efforts to gather and analyze data have led to a footprint cast collection rivaled only by select academics and museum collections.  Being a strong advocate for peer review and science in general, Cliff publishes his research on his website, CliffBarackman.com in hopes of others examining his work and coming to their own conclusions.  His online bigfoot footprint database is a singular presence on the internet, and his work in this area continues to illuminate secrets of the species.

Thom Cantrall

Thom Cantrall Thom is a 4th Generation son of the west. He was born at the edge of the wilderness and spent his formative years wandering the wild places and meeting the inhabitants thereof. An event that made the news in 1958, The Jerry Crew Incident, lit a fire for knowledge that burns as brightly today as it did in the breast of that 15 year old boy! The True and Argosy articles authored by Dr. Ivan Sanderson painted a picture of a world this boy could only imagine… and dream about… and spend a lifetime chasing. A degree in Engineering and Forestry put him in a position to pursue the unseen denizens of our forestland. Today, in his mid-70’s, Thom still pursues his goals as adamantly as he did in his 3rd decade, he just tries to do it in a smarter manner. He is an author of several books that have been named as “MUST HAVE” by those who are serious about their investigations. He is happy to meet and talk to everyone and will give everyone as much time as needed to get the answers they need. His travels annually take him from Coast to Coast and from Canada to the border on the south. Sharing his research has become paramount in his life. Meeting his friends and sharing data and experiences is as good as life gets. To Thom, sitting with his friend Bob Gimlin at a gathering of enthusiasts in Georgia is more important than just about anything any executive in any office in any country of the world could ever do. Thom will be presenting his research and findings on the authenticity of the Patterson/Gimlim film. Thom will be comparing actual frames of the film to facts available throughout an extensive and meticulous process to allow you to draw your own conclusions, I believe you will walk away with an entirely new perspective on the 50 year old  film footage.

Thomas Sewid

Thomas Sewid is a member of the Kwakwaka’wakw (Kwakiutl) Tribe from northeastern Vancouver Island British Columbia. He is also half Cree Native from central Canada. A commercial fisherman all his life, he has journeyed the entire coast comparing information about Sasquatch with others who believe. 28 years ago, he was sent out into his traditional territories located between Vancouver Island and the mainland known as The Broughton Archipelago to be a watchman of his Peoples’ abandoned Indian Village. This began his life to live in the bush year round, being a grizzly bear hunting guide, fishing guide and Eco-tourism operator. He would also volunteer to be watchman for logging camps during the winter shutdown.  He would have encounters with the creatures and it stirred up interest to learn more about this creature.

He lives part-time in Kent Washington with his partner Peggy and they conduct Sasquatch/Bigfoot tours and expeditions with Ha Moo Moo Adventures. She does the Tzoonakwa and Bokwus dance for their operations. Having studied under Dr. John Bindernagel and learning about researching the creatures, he’s incorporated his ancestral native teachings and ways to share a greater understanding about the migratory patterns of the Pacific Northwest Sasquatch/Bigfoot. Thomas operates the Facebook group Sasquatch Island to share the native perspectives to the creatures with all. He’s also in production of a television series call Aboriginal Sasquatch Stories. Many heard him when he did 5 episodes with Sasquatch Chronicles and other podcasts, Internet Radio shows and years of doing television shows about the creatures. One can most times find Thomas out in the bush conducting research or tours.

Adam Davies

The man, the myth, the mysterious world traveler… as seen on TV….Maybe you caught the Travel Channel’s; Expedition Unknown episode of “Hunt For The Yeti” with Josh Gates and Adam Davies, if so, you’re certainly going to want to check it out. Since his move into California, Adam has hit the ground running with his research and has some very interesting findings that you wont want to miss. With upcoming summer plans and research he has already conducted in the fall of 2016, Adam will be presenting his latest updates directly from the field.

Straight from the other side of the pond, Adam is a world renowned cryptozoologist.  He has seemingly been seen on every channel and every show possible on anything unexplained.  His experiences range from lake monsters like the Loch Ness monster, all the way to Bigfoot.

Also taking the position as ‘Lead investigator’ of the Five Journeys; Adam will be bringing to the table all of the previous year’s findings and evidence collected by his field research team. Be prepared to sit on the edge of your seat during this, can’t miss, presentation.

Lyle Blackburn

Lyle Blackburn is an author, musician, and cryptid researcher from Texas. His investigative cryptozoology books, such as “The Beast of Boggy Creek” and “Lizard Man,” reflect his life-long fascination with legends and sighting reports of unknown creatures. During his research, Lyle has often explored the remote reaches of the southern U.S. in search of shadowy beasts said to inhabit the dense backwoods and swamplands of these areas.

Lyle has been heard on numerous radio programs, including Coast To Coast AM, and has been featured on television shows such as “Monsters and Mysteries in America” and “Finding Bigfoot.” Lyle is also a writer for the monthly horror magazine, Rue Morgue, and was recently featured in the documentary film, “Boggy Creek Monster.”

Marc Myrsell

Rush Hour on the Parkway in Kennewick

Marc Myrsell is a land surveyor and public aquarist in SW Washington and has apparently found his specialty in historical monster attack research. In SW Oregon over the course of 30 years, miners and hunters had numerous sightings and at times violent encounters with large, hair covered creatures in the hills, above Port Orford, resulting in the methodical killing of four men, whose murders are still unsolved. Marc will be analyzing the 1924 Ape Canyon, the Thompson Flat Monster Projects and the Butchertown Murders (1875-1905) to discuss historical document and field research techniques that are used for in-depth, detailed investigation of long standing episodes of the unexplained.

Having spent his life researching and writing on unexplained historical events, he began in earnest with a fresh investigation of the 1924 Ape Canyon attack, culminating in the discovery of the actual cabin site in 2013, where the events took place. An incredible historical story with the latest details will be shared during this presentation, you will be glad you sat in on this one!

Derek Randles

and the Olympic Project

The Olympic Project is an association of dedicated researchers, investigators, biologists and trackers committed to documenting the existence of Sasquatch through science and education. Through comprehensive habitat study, DNA analysis and game camera deployment, our goal is to obtain as much information and empirical evidence as we can, with hopes of being as prepared as possible when and if species verification comes to fruition. Our studies are conducted in a non-invasive manor with respect and sensitivity to probable habitat we believe this amazing species inhabits. Last year Derek brought some amazing finds in a nesting area that will be visited again this year with the latest updates from that area. Don’t miss this update and more from the Olympic Project and their tireless efforts to bring field Research to our Conference.

David Ellis

Track casting / Field Audio Recording / Analysis / Witness interview and Study site assistance. Washington State resident and College Graduate from the University of Washington My first notion that something out of the ordinary may be inhabiting the woods of the Pacific Northwest came from a story my Grandfather told me. He owned an eighty acre farm near Battle Ground, Washington. He spoke of seeing a five foot tall monkey running across a hayfield he was cutting. It ran across a field hopped a fence and disappeared into the woods. I was about eight years old when I first heard the story. Three years later I had my own experience. Fast forward to more recent times, my involvement in research began by following web pages related to Bigfoot in the mid 1990’s. In 2005 I attended a Bigfoot conference and met many good people doing field research. By 2006 I was out in the woods learning and listening from other researchers. I became a BFRO member and field investigator. While doing this I quickly gravitated to ways of collecting evidence. I wanted more than a story I was looking for ways to back up possible encounters. This desire drove me to learn and become proficient at track casting and audio recording asset. Currently a technical field researcher for the Olympic Project, David Ellis is the ‘Go to Guy’ when you have discovered audio that cannot be dismissed as natural background ‘night sounds.’ His audio research, breakdown of sound evidence and his ability to distinguish vocal range identity is the kind of advanced technological advantage that will assist in providing definitive proof of the existence of the legendary Bigfoot. This presentation will provide insight of sound identification, examples of sound bites and visual vocal range graphs that display ‘unidentifiable’ sounds that are not man made or known wildlife.

David Floyd

David Floyd is Associate Professor of English at Charleston Southern University, where he teaches British fiction. He earned his PhD from the University of Stirling, Scotland, and is the author of Street Urchins, Sociopaths, and Degenerates: Orphans of Late-Victorian and Edwardian Fiction. David has published work on medieval, Gothic, and Victorian literature and presented at conferences in England, Scotland, and the US. He is currently pursuing a second PhD, in psychology, through the University of Helsinki.

David has spoken at the Ohio Bigfoot Conference and the Virginia Bigfoot Conference, and has appeared on the SasWhat podcast. His primary research deals with the consistent presence of bigfoot-type creatures in folklore and legend throughout human history, and the theory that, far from being merely some psychological archetype or cultural emblem, that there is a substantive, biological reality behind the accounts of this mysterious creature. His presentation for the International Bigfoot Conference is based on his manuscript-in-progress called Manifestations of a Mystery: Bigfoot and its Similars.

Clyde Lewis

Clyde is a powerful voice in parapolitical and paranormal news and commentary. With a diverse background in news, acting, writing and radio, he entertains and captivates audiences across multiple platforms. Lewis’ career in radio began in Utah in 1982 and he created Ground Zero in 1995 in Salt Lake City. Lewis has produced Ground Zero programs online, on radio and on television. The program (which takes its name from the scientific definition of the term) joined FM News 101 KXL in 2011 and became nationally syndicated in 2012 with Premiere Network. Ground Zero with Clyde Lewis consistently ranks #1 in the local and national markets and is on approximately 300 stations across the country. He will be discussing his own experiences and sharing some of his own scientific ideas and decisions on the subject matter. With an open mind he is available to discuss all aspects of your experiences when you visit his table full of plenty of Ground Zero souvenirs. You wont want to miss this opportunity to meet with the voice of the nationally recognized Ground Zero!

Shelly Covington Montana

Shelly is a native Texan, known as a wilderness and wildlife enthusiast with a passion for conservation and preservation. Shelly’s search for the truth was fueled by her husband’s unexplained encounter in the winter of 1982 in the forest of east Texas.

“I know that the Olympic Project is the perfect research group for me”, recognizing the consistent years of effort from The Olympic Project in regards to collecting detailed data and solid research. “Facts are truth, and I am hopeful with proper Wildlife DNA collection and analysis it could be a benefit and a standard in the search of the enigma we call Bigfoot.” Shelly brings to the stage some amazing energy, animated dialog and information that will give even the beginner researcher a starting point for collecting evidence. Her sacrifice of family time and dedicated time in the field is filled with plenty of presentation material for the conference. Sit back, get comfortable and hang on for the journey she will take you on…

Dr. Jeff Meldrum

50 years of the Patterson-Gimlin Film

Celebrating 50 years of endless debate and discussion from skeptics, believers, non-believers and still one of the most recognized pieces of Bigfoot evidence to date. Dr. Jeff Meldrum is back on the International Bigfoot Conference stage with his own personal research and findings on the controversial film.

2017 marks the 50th anniversary of the Patterson-Gimlin film. Having weathered repeated attempts to discredit it over the past half century, the P-G film repeatedly emerges unscathed, as new understanding of hominoid evolution and advances in forensic technologies reveal new insights into the film and its subject. Dr. Meldrum examines a small sample of these insights that Patterson could not have anticipated 50 years ago, which speak to the credibility of this foremost photographic evidence for the existence of relict hominoids in North America. You wont want to miss this presentation.
